Chin Augmentation
Chin augmentation can dramatically enhance your overall appearance. An undersized or “weak” chin that is not in harmony or balance with the other facial features gives the appearance of a downward or droopy profile. A chin augmentation can correct this and strengthen facial appearance (profile and direct views).
How is a Chin Augmentation Performed?
Generally, an implant is used to add volume to the chin to correct the weak chin appearance. A tiny incision is made to insert the implant into a small pocket near the chin bone. If the problem that presents is a double chin, then liposuction of the chin area will be performed to remove excess fat and eliminate the appearance of a second chin.
Chin augmentation procedures generally take only a about 30 minutes, but the result can be a very dramatic improvement in overall appearance.
Candidates for a Chin Augmentation
Those people presenting with either a weak chin, a double chin or other abnormality of the area may be candidates for a chin augmentation. Often times patients who undergo rhinoplasty could also benefit from a chin augmentation due to the delicate balance of harmony that the nose and chin must be portray to give a natural appearance.
